چکیده
Objective: To characterize agronomically 52 populations of pigmented native corn (Zea mays L.) from Coahuila, Mexico, in order to identify varieties with outstanding agronomic potential and establish an improvement program for grain yield, the ability adapt, superior nutritional bioactive content. Design/Methodology: Two experiments were evaluated through incomplete block design lattice alpha arrangement, two localities that are representative agricultural area southeastern Coahuila: a) Yellow populations, mostly Tuxpeño, Ratón Tuxpeño Norteño; b) Anthocyanin (blue, red purple), represented primarily by Cónico Norteño, Elotes Cónicos Ratón. Results: There is environmental effect contrasts between localities, differences yield up 78%; 25 days difference flowering, 53 cm plant height, seven plants without cobs. The response was product each locality. yellow due their expression both landraces Tuxpeño: COAH068, COAH089, COAH177 COAH215, Celaya: COAH075. anthocyanin Ratón: COAH23 COAH203; Cónicos: COAH246 COAH019; Occidentales: COAH021; addition, study found adapted a Conclusion: Among diversity there can be basis improving production, quality grain, therefore, its byproducts.

Evaluation of Different Levels of Nitrogen Fertilizer on Agronomic Traits of Corn (Zea mays L.) Genotypes
Corn production management including nitrogen consumption will be different at different circumstances. In order to investigate the effect of different levels of nitrogen fertilizer on yield and yield components of seed corn hybrids in Khuzestan weather conditions, this research was carried out in the summer of 2013 in the lands of Safi Abad Agriculture and Natural Resources Research Center-Dez...
متن کاملHealth Benefits of Purple Corn (Zea mays L.) Phenolic Compounds
Purple corn (Zea mays L.), a grain with one of the deepest shades in the plant kingdom, has caught the attention of the food industry as it could serve as a source for alternatives to synthetic colorants. Also being rich in phenolic compounds with potential health-promoting properties, purple corn is becoming a rising star in the novel ingredients market. Although having been widely advertised ...
متن کاملPhenolic profiles of Andean purple corn (Zea mays L.)
Qualitative and quantitative high performance liquid chromatography with diode array detection (HPLC-DAD) was performed to characterize the presence of phenolic compounds in Andean purple corn. Phenolic compounds were analyzed by separating them in two main fractions: a water fraction (WF) and an ethyl acetate fraction (EAF). The WF rich in anthocyanins revealed the presence of cyanidin-3-gluco...
متن کاملMaize (Zea mays L.).
Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation is an effective method for introducing genes into maize. In this chapter, we describe a detailed protocol for genetic transformation of the maize genotype Hi II. Our starting plant material is immature embryos cocultivated with an Agrobacterium strain carrying a standard binary vector. In addition to step-by-step laboratory transformation proced...
متن کاملGreenhouse Gas Fluxes from Irrigated Sweet Corn (Zea mays L.) and Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.)
Intensive agriculture and increased N-fertilizer use have contributed to elevated emissions of the greenhouse gases, CO2, CH4, and N2O. In this study, the exchange of the greenhouse gases, CO2, N2O, and CH4, between a Quincy fine sand (mixed, mesic Xeric Torripsamments) soil and atmosphere was measured in a sweet corn (Zea mays L.) sweet corn potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) rotation during the 20...
